Maybe I'm old fashioned but I had never been too keen on grown men wearing replica football shirts, unless attending a football match.
When I was young (I know, here we go) football shirts were only worn when actually playing football. I think replica shirts only came in kids sizes. Even when attending football matches it was scarfs and bobblehats rather than footballs shirts that we wore.
Maybe its global warming that now allows grown men to wear a thin football shirt whilst sitting in a stadium seat in the middle of winter.
Of course it is very expensive nowadays to actually attend a league football match, so maybe thats why we see supporters showing their allegiance more in public. But I still don't wear a football shirt and the main reason is the advertising logos that dominate them nowadays. Its a bit like wearing a sandwich board isn't it?
However I have been looking at Toffs, the replica shirt company,(see logo top right) where you can get old shirts ...before the adverts came along.

Green Football
We were in the pub on Wednesday for the England Croatia game, and following Bath City's win over the government funded rivals Team Bath the night before we were trying to persuade some non City fans of the benefits of non-league football. "Local Food, local music, local football...it's the green future", Danny said drunkingly at one point. There was lots of talk compareing the "real men" of non league footballers with the wasters of the Premiership and England and of football "fans" who never go to watch live football. Of course at that point were were expecting England to get beaten by Crotia. As we left, in good cheer, someone shouted "international football...its the future".
Surely we'll win the World Cup now?
